AAMIR STRONG

WHO I AM

I am Aamir Nasim from India. A brain injury survivor turned Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), USA. I have more than 5 years of training experience in the weight room in which I trained myself to overcome entire physical problem and regain all of my lost physical capabilities. Currently I am working to train brain injury survivor at their comfortable places or in personal gyms and through my online presence I give consultation brain injury survivor across the globe to make the recovery process easy and help them regain their lost physical capabilities easily.

Let me explain a little bit about the accident that took place on March 22, 2012, when I was in the 4 th semester of my graduation. I was batting in a cricket match for my hostels tournament. I tried to play a dale scoop shot, misjudged the ball, and the ball, after hitting the blade of the bat, hit the right portion of my head. A sudden burst of huge pain started in my head. Unaware of what had happened, I played the next ball and bowled out. My pain was continuously increasing, and I was wondering here and there around the ground and hostel holding my head. After wondering around the campus for some time, I sat on the bench that was kept on the boundary line, did two back-to-back vomiting episodes, and then finally fainted on the lap of one of my friends sitting next to me. I was immediately taken to the Alchemist Hospital near my college in Gurgaon. The doctors kept me there for more than half an hour then took me out on the stretcher and told my friends that, “ we could not handle this case and you need to took me to emergency medical care quickly”. So my friends took me to Medanta- The Medicity. The doctor there refused to admit me and told my friend that I was almost dead and that the hospital could not take blame. My friends present there requested the doctors to kindly took me in, upon which they agreed and quickly took me to operation theatre. The operation took place for almost eight hours, and the doctor said after the operation that the next 48 hours are crucial and if blood clotted again in the brain, we will not be able to save his life.

I survived and returned back from coma after 20 days. My full body was paralyzed, and I was not able to even move my fingers at that time. Through rehabilitation, I managed to stand and walk in 2 months and returned home to live with my family. I was not aware of the second surgery that was to be held in October of the same year to put the bone flap back in its original position, which was removed at the time of the operation. They called it cranioplasty. After that second surgery, my body became weaker, and I started having more difficulties in walking.

Then I joined my college again to restart by study after a year back in my degree. I was physically and mentally very weak, but at that time, returning to college to start my studies again was my wish. I put a lot of effort into my studies to complete my degree. I graduated in 2015 with first divisions. In between, I was continuously visiting my physiotherapist in the hope of getting my lost physical capabilities back but nothing was changing. So in August 2017 last time I visited my physiotherapist.

Then in the same month, I joined a gym and started working out while researching my case over the internet, which truly changed my whole life. In between the process I also shaped my career in fitness
industry. This is the reason I am here on the internet. This is my photo when I was in the ICU.

This is my brief description. Feel free to reach me out to know more about me and my struggle for survival and if you are a brain injury survivor or know any brain injury survivor struggling for health, kindly talk to me. I will be very happy and grateful to help you.
